Video games are increasingly becoming popular nowadays. Mediums of using it are also dynamically evolving. Can you still remember yourself playing Mario Brothers way back in the 90’s using your “family computer?” Can you remember the iconic and speedy Sonic which is from Sega? How about popular adventure games from PlayStation 1 such as “Crash Bandicoot” and “Resident Evil?” If your cup of tea is arcade, you’ll definitely know about “Tekken” and “Mortal Kombat.” These are just some of the iconic, phenomenal and classical video games that made its own name in the video gaming industry in which some are still popular until now.
What are the Benefits of Playing Video Games?
Contrary to common traditional beliefs that video games limit learning abilities, researchers have proven that playing video games are not only for fun and entertainment purposes; rather, it may even increase both mental and physical skills which in fact could be essential for everyday living. If you are a word game addict, there’s no doubt that you are familiar with popular word games such as “Bookworm”, “Text Twist”, and of course “Scrabble” which all may improve your memory and vocabulary knowledge. On the other hand, if you frequent malls, particularly in the gaming area, you most probably have seen children, teenagers (or of any age) dancing on the energetic beat of “Dance Revolution” which in fact may exercise your lazy bones while having fun at the same time.
Personally, I do believe that playing video games could be a “stress buster.” Video gaming can relax your mind and whenever you win, it gives you a feeling of adrenaline rush. Moreover, according to studies, winning a game releases “happy hormones”, which is beneficial in lifting your mood. As a matter of fact, video gaming can also boost our confidence level, and can help us get distracted from the life’s accompanying problems, stresses and difficulties. By saying such, it is a great tool to escape from the mundane and boring life.
Video games are always misjudged since most people believe that it tackles violence and could therefore be mindless and addictive, but as a matter of fact, not all are purely about aggression and brutality. In reality, especially nowadays, most video games are designed to have educational and physical benefits for players.
